Situation

KBM Master Alloys is a leading player in the field of master alloys. The Farmsum production site manufactures semi-finished products that are used to make aluminum alloys.

Challenge

When a production error occurs, the excess material must be quickly cut off. To minimize the delay, the material is cut while it is at a temperature of 140 °C. This task is not part of the standard production process, so the cutters must be resistant to hot aluminum and also be flexible and easy to use.

Solution

To cut aluminum master alloys Holmatro specially developed four battery-powered ICU cutters. The MCP coating on the battery-cutter blades prevents the hot aluminum from sticking to the blades when cutting.
