Holmatro now introduces a series of battery-operated rescue tools as part of its Greenline range which was launched with a battery-powered pump in 2012. The latest additions to the range consist of combi tools, New Car Technology cutters, rams and a spreader.

All products in the Greenline range are emission-free, which is healthier for rescuers and victims; especially when used in confined (underground) spaces like tunnels, trains, busses and collapsed buildings. They also have a reduced power consumption as well as lowest sound levels limiting victim stress and improving on-scene communication. At the same time high-capacity batteries (lithium-ion for the tools and LiFePO4 for the pump) maximize operation time.

By extending its Greenline range, Holmatro offers rescuers a choice: Battery-operated rescue tools for optimal mobility or a battery pump that is suitable for every rescue situation, to power their existing Holmatro tools. With this pump you are still prepared for operations in or under water, where you can place the pump on land with hoses extended to the tools.

Additional battery tool features

Where the battery pump has a strongly reduced sound level at idle speed, the tools produce no sound at all when switched on but not used. Their lithium-ion batteries have a low self-discharge rate for a long life span and no memory effect to maintain a high capacity. A LED-indicator shows the battery capacity and when the tools are switched off you can press a button on the battery to check its state of charge level. An easy click-on / click-off system on top of the equipment enables you to change batteries with one hand, within seconds – even in confined spaces. Holmatro has also thought about ergonomics: All battery tools are well-balanced and the control handle is always within reach, even when the tool needs to be rotated. This means that the hand operating the equipment can always stay in the same position.

Special models

Next to battery versions of existing hydraulic rescue tools, Holmatro introduces two brand new compact and lightweight combi tool models: GCT 5111 and GCT 5117. These tools were specially developed for for rapid intervention in vehicle rescue and the extrication of victims trapped during other operations such as USAR. The short armed 5111 model has an extremely high spreading force and the long armed 5117 model offers a very high spreading distance. A high cutting force compared to tool size and weight applies to both models. This allows rescuers to choose the most suitable tool for the job, depending on the nature of their operation.
