For the second time, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service hosted a Holmatro Rescue Experience in Glasgow. On February 18th, over 100 firefighters attended this one-day course with both theoretical and practical elements.

Mr. Mark Forrest, Consultant Anesthetist, focussing on Medical Rescue in his presentation covering the ‘Management of Pelvic Trauma during Extrication’.  

Mr. Ian Dunbar, Global Rescue Consultant, outlined the latest developments on New Car Technology and gave his vision on ‘The Future of Extrication & Tools’. 

Mr. Paul Savage, OBE, presented a groundbreaking research report on ‘Immersion and Submersion’.

After lunch the participants were divided into three separate groups. Each group successively attended a group demonstration / discussion of 45 minutes on each of these three topics: Latest Innovations, Pelvic Trauma and Critical Tool Use. The day ended with a generic Q&A session to discuss all highlights of the day.
