- Should I put grease on Holmatro drum bearings of a winch? No. Holmatro winches are designed to operate with self-lubricating high end plain bearings. These bearings provide a better load spread, and are virtualy without wear and tear. If you grease these beraings, the performance will go down, and the grease will have the effect of dirt (sand) to stick and build up.
