Bicycle recycling - AFAC

The ICU 05 proves to be an excellent tool for preparing useless bicycles safely for the scrap yard.

The grounds of the bicycle depot in Amsterdam - also AFAC (General Bicycle Disposal Centre) - probably are the biggest bicycle shed in Holland. All bicycles here were removed or found. In 2011 the average the proceeds were about 54.000 bicycles. Some will be collected by the rightful owner, others will be used for national and international job-creating rojects. The rest, the real wrecks, are being prepared for the scrap yard.

This last category bicycles are cut to pieces. The AFAC uses a complete Holmatro cutter set (ICU 05 cutter, pump and hose) to do this job. Doing the same job with a grinder takes much more time. Another major advantage compared to grinding is the absence of sparks and the low noise level. Because of these benefits the cutter set complies with the Dutch Occupational Health and Safety Act.
