Bicycle recycling - AFAC

The ICU 05 proves to be an excellent tool for preparing useless bicycles for the scrap yard.

The grounds of the AFAC (General Bicycle Disposal Centre) in Amsterdam probably are the biggest bicycle shed in Holland. All bicycles here were confiscated by the police. The average proceeds are 2000 bicycles a month. Some will be collected by the rightful owner, others will be transported to the scrap yard.

The bicycles which end up at the scrap yard are cut to pieces by the AFAC to make them definitely unusable. The AFAC uses a complete ICU 05 cutter set (cutter, pump and hose) of Holmatro to do this job. Doing the same job with a grinder takes much more time. Another major advantage compared to grinding is the absence of sparks and the low noise level. Because of these benefits the cutter set complies with the Dutch Occupational Health and Safety Act.
